The diagnostic potential of the portable autofluorescence optical system in the peroperative evaluation of resection margins, and thus of the resection line safety in patients with low positioned colorectal carcinoma is reported. The principal component method was used to construct the logistic model. Obtained results confirm that the optical setup is suitable for the peroperative testing of the distal resection line. It is capable to discriminate the pathological tissue with 90% confidence.
