Phenomenological temperature, a concept governing the thermal physics, is introduced as a subordinate concept to the hotness manifold defined by means of Mach’s postulates reformulated in terms of Cantor’s set theory. It is further shown that the definition of the so called Kelvin temperature scale is based on two idealized anthropomorphic abstractions, namely, on reversible cycle and perfect gas. Among the consequences directly following from our definition of phenomenological temperature the Nernst law of unattainability of absolute zero and the Lorentz invariance of temperature should be mentioned.
