Distribution of Cd, Pb and Zn were studied during fluidized bed combustion of contaminated poplar and steam gasification of blended fuel (mixture of contaminated flax and hardwood). Both biomass fuels contaminated by heavy metals originated from phytoextraction process. The behaviour of Cd was found completely different in reducing and oxidizing conditions. During combustion stable cadmium oxides were formed and the major portion of Cd was determined in cyclone ash. In reducing conditions was Cd more volatile and passed through the hot cyclone dominantly in producer gas. Slightly different behaviour of lead and zinc was observed in reducing and oxidizing conditions.
