A survay is given on the role of nanoscale precipitates of various compounds working in the bulk of various LRE-Ba_2 Cu_3 O_y (LRE-123), where LRE stands for Light Rare Earth, LRE=Nd,Sm, Eu, Gd, as a pinning agent. Minimization of the particles and bringing their size to the range of vortex core size enables such a critical current enhancement that the material can be used as a superconducting supermagnet up to vicinity of critical temperature (in the given compounds it means cooling by liquid oxygen). These conditions moreover extend up to high magnetic fields.
