The D-amino acid containing pentapeptides exhibit high oostatic effect in the flesh fly Neobellieria bullata and significantly delayed incorporation of radioactivity from their tritiated forms to insect ovaries. The decreased enzymatic degradation of the peptide bonds neighboring with the D-amino acid residues prolongs half-life of the corresponding pentapeptides, which can thus affect more ovarian cells.
