    A new method for fabrication of periodic nanoparticle arrays supporting localized surface plasmons is presented. The method is based on self-assembly of polysterene microspheres on a template. The template is sine-profile diffraction grating. The assembly of the spheres is drawn into the valleys of the grating by surface forces. The resulting structures have applications in refractometric biosensors.
