Monografie Huga Demartiniho (1931-2010), přední osobnosti českého moderního sochařství, podává prostřednictvím několika studií zasvěcený vhled do umělcovy ideově bohaté tvorby. Je členěna dle vývoje díla a názorových etap od raných abstrakcí přes konstruktivně zaměřené struktury koulí a jejich segmentů a akce ve volné přírodě po kubické Objekty, Modely místa a Instalace, v nichž umělec zhodnocoval účinky náhody a řádu a řád v náhodě, jež se staly leitmotivem celé jeho tvorby.

This monograph is devoted to Hugo Demartini (1931-2010), a leading figure of modern Czech sculpture. Through a series of essays, it provides an initiate’s insights into the artist’s work and his wealth of ideas. The monograph covers various periods of the artist’s career, beginning with his early abstract work, his focus on the structure of spheres and their parts, outdoor happenings, and finally cubic Objects, Models of a place, and Installations in which the artist investigated the effects of randomness, order, and order within disorder that eventually became the central theme of his work.
