We analysed the long-term X-ray activity of KS 1731-260 by using the data from ASM onboard the NASA satellite RXTE. KS 1731 underwent repetitive changes from a steady-state to a thermally unstable state of its accretion disk during transition from its very long main outburst. We place this peculiar long-term activity of KS 1731-260 in the context of the systems which display the so-called echo outbursts. This analysis also shows the importance of monitoring of the sky in the X-ray region.
