Three new zirconium 4-sulfophenylphosphonates Zr(HO3SC6H4PO3)2•2H2O, Zr(C6H5PO3)1.3(HO3SC6H4PO3)0.7•3.6H2O and Zr(CH3PO3)1.34(HO3SC6H4PO3)0.66•3.64H2O were prepared. These compounds are able to form intercalates with molecules containing basic functional groups
