    The oxidation creates mainly carboxyl, hydroxyl and carbonyl groups attached to multiwall carbon nanotubes.The oxidation proceeds in aqueous solution of the concentrated HNO3. The oxidized multiwall carbon nanotubes are investigated using the infrared and electron spectroscopy methods.
