Synthesis of protected C4´-epimeric 5’-deoxyribonucleoside-4´-C-oxymethylphosphonates, as phosphonate analogs of nucleoside 5´-phosphates, by electrophilic addition of dimethyl hydroxymethylphosphonate to 4´,5´-didehydronucleosides was elaborated, and stereochemical features of the obtained compounds were studied.
