Two sets of phosphonate oligoadenylate analogues, modified with either 2´- or 5´-phosphonate unit, were synthesized and their ability to bind to, and activate, human RNase L was evaluated. Several potent effectors of this enzyme were selected, and structure-activity data obtained.
