    Current demands on reliability and safety aeronautical structures are not realizable without effective NDT means included in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)procedures. However, the classical NDT methods like PT,VT, ET, UT are useful, but relatively tedious and expensive, as they dońt bring prompt information about initiation and development of defects. Possibilities of two more convenient ultrasonic NDT/NDE methods - Acoustic Emission (AE) and Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) are discussed in this paper.
