South-Moravian borderland is formed by its Slovak and Austrian parts. But the differentiation between the central part of the borderland and their most eastern and western parts seems to be more important. It is reflected also by the demographic development. These most distance parts of the borderland are the only micro-regions in South Moravia which lost the population in the period of 2005-2009. General problem of the Czech administrative structure is occurrence of small and very small communes. The South-Moravian borderland (excerpt of its most western part) is slightly better settlement structure having enough communes with more than 500 inhabitants.
