In this work, the accuracy of the void fraction measurements by an optical probe is investigated experimentally. An interaction of a freely rising bubble with a tip of a mono-fiber optical probe is studied using a high-speed imaging. The dwell time (period of time, for which the probe tip stays within the bubble) is obtained from both the optical probe signal and visualization. The dwell time is then compared with an ideal value expected for a non-perturbed bubble. In this way, an error due to intrusive nature of the probe is evaluated.
