    In the contribution, we present first theoretical and experimental results obtained with LPGs written with a CO2 laser in a novel microstructure fiber that was designed and manufactured for directional bend sensing. The fiber contains an array of air holes arranged in a plane. The LPGs are written with both one-side and three-side laser irradiation of the fiber and the results obtained are compared.
