The work deals with preparation of aluminium-erbium co-doped silica fibers. The MCVD method with solution-doping technique were used for preparation of preforms for fiber drawing. It was found that the distribution of Er3+ ion concentration is more homogeneous and that the fluorescence intensity of Er3+ ions in fibers in range from 1500 nm to 1650 nm is approx. 2.5 times higher in "nanoparticle-doped" fibers compared to the fibers prepared conventionally.
