We followed the efficiency of dehalogenation of less chlorinated biphenyls in aqueous solution while reacting with particles of nano-iron. The aqueous solution was prepared by the washing of a real sample of soil, long-term contaminated by poly-chlorinated biphenyls, with the commercial mixture Delor 103.Particles of nano-Fe were prepared fresh by mixing a solution of sodium borohydride and ferrous sulfate. The efficiency of lowering the content of chlorinated congeners contained in the contaminated water was high,on average 73% and increases when increase the molar ratio of NaBH4/Fe2+.Reaction of the created nano-particles with PCB was followed also under the influence of a microwave field. The effect of simultaneous activity of a micro-wave field on the efficiency of reductive dehalogenation was minimal, microwaves.Efficiency of dehalogenation of PCB using microwaves increased, on average, to 78 per cent, compared to trials without the use of microwaves.
