HPHT ND was oxidised to produce carbonyl termination. Further on, samples were exposed to a H-plasma in the MW–PECVD reactor to change the surface termination to hydrogen termination. Raman and Photo Luminescence (514nm) spectra were taken from untreated, nitrogen implanted and annealed NCD and SCD and from carbonyl terminated to and H terminated NCD and SCD using a Renishaw InVia Raman Microscope at room temperature. We discuss changes in PL spectra and compare with the surface termination on ND, HPHT diamond and SCD.
