Subject RIV: DN - Health Impact of the Environment Quality

In this study, we performed MCF-7 proliferation assay and the gene expression analysis of the TFF1 reporter gene. The cell line was exposed to three natural hormones (estrone (E1), 17β-estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3)), one synthetic hormone (17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2)) and two polybrominated compounds (tetrabromobysphenol A (TBBPA) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD)). We confirmed the concentration-dependent increase in the cell proliferation and TFF1 gene expression after exposure the MCF-7 cells with estrogen. Further, we found that HBCD but not TBBPA has estrogenic effect on MCF-7 cells in vitro.
