D-protein is an unique subunit of RNAP from G bacterias. Its encoded by the rpoE gene, it regulates transcription in vitro by enhancing its specifity, inhibiting the DNA melting and formation of the open complex, and has a significant effect on the sensitivity of the polymerase to the initiating nucleotide triphosphate of the plasmid.
