Beze vší pochybnosti můžeme Kosmovu legendu o zmizení a smrti krále Svatopluka považovat za literární fikci s důrazem na morálku, ale není možné přímo odmítnout jeho popis údajně mnišského počátku klášterního života na Zoboru, který by se mohl vztahovat k existenci Benediktinů už za doby Velké Moravy. Kosmas tak podporuje myšlenku založení kláštera již za vlády prvních křesťanů z dynastie Arpádovců.

Without any doubts, the Cosmas' legend of the disapperance and death of king Svatopluk can be included among the literary fictions with a moralistic emphasis, but we cannot clearly reject his account on the alleged hermit-like beginnings of the monastic life at Zobor, which might have referred to the existence of a Benedictine cella already in the Great Moravian period. In this way, Cosmas supports the idea of the foundation of an actual monastery (abbey) only during the reign of the first Christian af the Arpad dynasty.
