Project RECON seeks to clarify whether democracy is possible under conditions of pluralism, diversity and complex multilevel governance. Project introduces three different options for democratic reconstitution: (1) EU as a functional regulatory regime for national democratic states; (2) EU as a multinational federal state; (3) development of a post-national Union with an explicit cosmopolitan imprint. The conference took stock of RECON’s research halfway through the project.

Projekt RECON zkoumá, zda je demokracie možná za podmínek pluralismu, diverzity a komplexního víceúrovňového vládnutí. Představuje tři rozdílné modely demokratické rekonstrukce: (1) EU jako funkční regulační režim národních demokratických států; (2) EU jako multinárodní federální stát; (3) vývoj post-národní Unie s explicitním kosmopolitním rázem. Konference bilancovala dosažené výsledky v polovině řešení projektu.
