Recenzovaná publikace je souhrnnou prací vydanou ke dvoustému výročí vzniku mnichovské Akadamie výtvarných umění. Příspěvky jednotlivých autorů podávají zevrubný přehled vývoje a významu této instituce pro dějiny evropského umění, zejména pro rozvoj historické malby 2. poloviny 19. století.

The book reviewed was published for the bicentennial of the Acadamy of Fine Arts in Munich. It provides a comprehensive outline of the institution´s developement and influence on the history of European art, especially for the rise of history painting in the 2nd half of the 19th century.
