Numerical solution of flows over a generalized 2D backward facing step The work deals with numerical simulation of the incompressible flow in a channel with backward facing step. The step is either perpendicular to the bottom wall or inclined at angle 45 degree. Also different heights of the step related to the total channel height are considered. The mathematical model is based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The turbulence effects are modelled using two-equation k-ε and k-ω eddy-viscosity models and an explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model. The numerical results are compared with accessible experimental data.
