Mapping local structural and electronic properties has proven to be a powerful research tool for the development of the future solar cells for which the nanostructured heteromaterials offer a rich field of possibilities. Finally, a new approach of designing the solar cell structures in order to use the local fields in self-assembled nanostructures was proposed.
