Map of the lithosphere thickness beneath Europe has been constructed from data (P arrival times) collected from permanent seismological observatories and during numerous international passive seismic experiments. The thickest lithosphere (over 200 km) has been observed beneath the Precambrian part of Europe, beneath the Western and Eastern Alps and the Southern Carpathians, the thinnest lithosphere (about 60 km) beneath the Pannonian Basin, the Belgo-Dutch and North-German Platforms.

Mapa mocnosti evropské litosféry byla vytvořena z dat (časů příchodu vln P) permanentních seismologických observatoří a dat shromažďovaných během řady mezinárodních pasivních seismických experimentů. Největší mocnost litosféry (nad 200 km) se pozoruje pod prekambrickou částí Evropy, pod Západními a Východními Alpami a pod Východními Karpaty, nejmenší (kolem 60 km) pod Panonskou pánví a pod Belgicko-holandskou a Severoněmeckou platformou.
