This paper is to analyze development of banking sector and it's role in the financial system in the Visegrad Four countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). We addresses the following questions: is there a common pattern of structural change; do banks lose importance in the process of change; and are these four financial systems becoming more similar?

Práce analyzuje vývoj bankovního sektoru a jeho roli ve finančním systému visegrádské čtyřky (České republiky, Maďarska, Polska a Slovenska). Věnujeme se následujícím otázkám: existují společné znaky strukturálních změn; ztrácejí banky důležitost v procesu změn; a stávají se tyto čtyři finanční systémy podobnější?
