A contribution to the debate on the essay by the literary historian Michael Wögerbauer, Vernacularism – an alternative to the concept of the Czech national revival? It considers if this model of literary history could be used in art history and illustrates it using as an example the first edition of the Czech-german handbook on the Five orders (1783).
