Lamin A/C deficiency cause not only reorganization of chromatin, but has also impact on the extent of chromosome condensation. Histone deacetylase inhibition can compensate the lamin A/C dependent chromatin changes. Thus, interaction between lamins and specifically modified histones plays an important role in the higher order chromatin organization, which influences transcriptional activity.
