    Transgenic tobacco carrying the bacterial bphC gene for 2,3-dihydroxybiphenyl-1,2-dioxygenase was prepared. The bphC gene comes from a bacterial degradation pathway of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and can improve bioremediation abilities of plants.
