Populations, described originaly as /"Pleurocapsa cuprea/" (including type material) is not a Cyanophyte (Cyanobacterial) species. The results confirm that /"Pleurocapsa cuprea/" is a eucaryotic organism and should be classified to the Rhodophyta, close to the group of the freshwater rhodophyte species Hildenbrandia rivularis and Hildenbrandia angolensis.

Populace originálně popsané jako "Pleurocapsa cuprea" (včetně typového materiálu) nepatří do Cyanophytes, jak bylo dříne publikováno. Výsledky v této práci potvrdily, že Pleurocapsa cuprea je eukaryotní organismus, patřící do Rhodophyt (do blízkosti rodu druhů Hildebrandia rivularis a H. angolensis).
