Krátký informativní článek uvádí základní údaje o magnetokalorickém jevu, relevantních materiálech a jejich využití v oblasti magnetického chlazení. Stručně jsou zmíněny i nejnovější poznatky o praktickém využití magnetického chlazení, prezentované na 2. mezinárodní konferenci TERMAG 2007 v Portoroži ve Slovinsku.

The basic data concerning the magnetocaloric effect used for magnetic refrigeration and the magnetocaloric materials are presented in the short informative paper. The new achievements in practical application of the magnetic refrigeration presented on the 2nd International Conference TERMAG 2007 in Portoroz, Slovenia, are briefly mentioned.
