This work provides a comprehensive view of expression and distribution patterns of the intermediate filament nestin in rat regenerating skeletal muscles after heterochronous isotransplantation. According to our results, nestin represents an ideal marker for the skeletal muscle regeneration, as its expression reflects processes of development, revascularization and reinnervation of new myofibers

We present an image registration algorithm based on minimization of a L1-TV functional consisting of a data fidelity term penalizing the mismatch between the reference and the target image, and a term enforcing smoothness of shift between neighboring pairs of pixels
