V příspěvku jsou představeny výsledky průzkumu díla J. A. Komenského s cílem zjistit, kdo z raně církevních Otců je citován, v jaké frekvenci a kontextu, a jak s citáty Komenský zachází. Komenského názory na to, jak pracovat s autoritami, jsou konfrontovány s jeho vlastní praxí citování Otců. Velká většina citátů z Otců v Komenského díle má funkci testimonií, ostatní jsou spíše jen stylistickým prvkem, anebo naopak materiálem pro analýzu a interpretaci (většinou v polemických spisech). Jsou předloženy statistické údaje o frekvenci citátů z Otců v Komenského díle a o jejich autorech: většina těchto citátů se vyskytuje v teologicko-polemických spisech; téměř jedna třetina ze všech patristických citátů pochází z díla Augustinova.

Presented are results of the investigation through Johann Amos Comenius´ work, aiming to discover who of the Early Church Fathers have been quoted, in what frequency and contexts, and how these quotations are dealt with. Comenius´ own theory of working with authoritates is confronted with the practice of quoting the Fathers. A great majority of the quotations from the Fathers in Comenius´ works have the function of testimonia, while the rest of them serve either as only means of style or, in the contrary, as material for analysis and interpretation (mainly in polemical writings). Statistical data on both the frequency and the authors of patristic quotations in Comenius´ works are presented: most of them occur in theologico-polemical writings; almost one-third of all the patristic quotations come from the works of Augustin.
