Abstract. The promising idea of thin-walled steel construction can be materialised thanks to the phenomenon of post-buckled behaviour that governs the performance of structural systems made of slender plate elements if they are subjected to quasi-constant loading. However, when the systems are under the action of many times repeated loads, a substantial portion of the post-critical reserve of strength is eroded by the cumulative damage process that is generated by the repeated loading. This erosion is studied by means of an analysis of the results of numerous fatigue tests conducted by the authors in Prague, and a number of important conclusions for design is then drawn.
Myšlenka tenkostěnných ocelových konstrukcí může být uskutečněna díky pokritickému chování konstrukčních systémů sestávajících z tenkostěnných prvků, jsou-li namahány quasi-konstantním zatížením. Jeli ale systém namahán mnohonásobně se opakujícím zatížením, podstatná část pokritické rezervy zatížení je oderodována procesem kumulace poškození, který vzniká vlivem opakovaného zatížení. Tato eroze byla studována pomocí analyzy výsledků experimentů prováděných v Praze a byla odvozena řada závěrů důležitých pro návrh.
