Optical fields from a phase plate with a helical variation of its thickness are investigated in the Fraunhofer diffraction zone. The plate is masked with a ring aperture, and there is a thickness step along a half-line from the plate's centre, the dislocation half-line. On- and off-axis diffraction patterns are calculated and their variations with a parameter proportional to the magnitude of the step are demonstrated. Features of symmetry of the patterns are discussed.
