Potřeba mapy zobrazující náchylnosti k sesuvům půdy v měřítku 1:10 000 a 1:5 000 v nejvíce postižených částech ČR byla vyvolána opětným výskytem svahových deformací v 2. polovině 90. let. Stanovení rizika sesuvů jsou brána v úvahu pravomocnými orgány při urbanizačním plánování.

A necessity of systematic setting up of the landslide susceptibility in scale of 1:10 000 and 1:5 000 in the most affected parts of the Czech Republic was provoked by recurent occurence of the slope deformations in the second part of 1990s. The assessment of landslides hazard is taken into account by local authorities in urban planning.
