Nicalon - reinforced composites with ex-polymethylphenylsiloxane matrix were made by pyrolysis at 700 - 1000řC. The bending strength and work to fracture slightly decreased with increasing pyrolysis temperature 700 - 900řC but dropped for samples pyrolysed at 1000 C. The cumulative damage of almost all samples took place in the stress interval of 100 - 150 MPa. The lifetime tests showed a slight tendency of decreasing the stress resistance with increasing test temperature from 500řC to 600řC.
