The aim of this communication is to show the variations observed in proton MR spectra acquired from various brain regions on a 1.5 T MR scanner (Symphony, SIEMENS) from 3x3x2 cm3 VOIs by short-TE (20-30 ms) STEAM localization, with short TR (1500 ms), and no outer volume suppression. Both inter- and intra-subject reproducibility of the MR spectra was followed on 18 healthy volunteers (age 20-70 years) under the condition of low water suppression efficiency (50-250x). In this case, the residual water signal can serve as an internal standard for quantitation and compensation of various types of artifacts in the acquired MR spectra.
