..I.O./I.-Phosphonatomethylcholine, an isopolar phosphocholine analogue with a phosphonomethyl ether group replacing a phosphomonoester residue, was prepared by reaction of diisopropyl 2-chloroethoxymethylphosphonate with dimethylamine followed by quaternization of the intermediate with iodomethaneand cleavage with bromotrimethylsilane.
