it was shown that nitric oxide (NO) functions as both immunoregulatory andeffector molecule in the immune system. NO reguletes production of cytokines and play a role as athe effector molecule in allograft rejection. Using specific inhibitors of NO a significant prolongation of allograft survival was obtained.
