We estimated here the relative mRNA expression of .I.BRCA1 NBR1 ./I.NBR2 .I.genes on a panel of cell cultures derived from human breast cancer or normal mammary tissue, ./I.BRCA1 .I.was significantly downregulated in 11 out of 12 examined tumor cell lines as compared to non-malignant mammary cells. The two isoforms of ./I.NBR1 .I.were also found to be downregulated in malignant breast cells and the expression of ./I.NBR2 .I.was increased in three permanent tumor cell lines and slightly decreased in all primary breast cancer cells.
