Mouse cells were transformed with E6/E7 HPV 16 and activatedH-ras oncogenes. An oncogenic cell line, designatedMK16/1/IIIABC, was derived, lacking MHC class I and II molecules on the cell surface and forming metastases in lymph nodes and lungs after prolonged growth of s.c. induced limited protection against challenge with homologous cells. These cells can therefore serve as a model for studying immune reactions against HPV 16-associated tumours.
