A form of CD3-zeta chain was constructed which is constitutively expressed in signaling microdomains (GEMs) ofT-lymphocytes. Contrary to expectations, the modification of GEMs with this CD3-zeta (constitutively Tyr-phosphorylated) did not produce a spontaneously activated phenotype (IL-2 and CD69 production not observed).
