Lymphocytes of mouse strains BALB/c and STS are low and high responders in MLC response to C57BL/10Sn and DBA/1 alloantigens. We analyzed the genetic basis of this strain difference using the recombinant congenic (RC) strains. Linkage analysis of F2 hybrids between the high responding RC strain CcS-5 and low responding strain BALB/c revealed a novel locus .I.Alan1 ./I.(Alloantigen response1) on chromosome 17 which controls response to these alloantigens.
