Genome Arabidopsis thaliana byl sekvencován na konci roku 2000.Některé geny Arabidopsis thalianauž byly využity ke zkvalitnění užitkových druhů.
The Arabidopsis thaliana genome has been sequenced by the end of year 2000. The gene number was determined to be 25 498 encoding proteins from more than 11 000 families. Most of Arabidopsis genome segments are present in few copies. Genes which show defined effects when mutated can be easily cloned after insertions of T-DNA or transposons. Several Arabidopsis genes have already been used to improve crop species. Arabidopsis became one of the most impotant plants for broad use both in science and in plant breeding.
