RNase A unimer was conjugated with two N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide (HPMA) copolymers, forming classic and starconjugates. Their antitumor effects were tested both in vitro and in vivo. Unlike the wild bovine pancreatic ribonuclease (RNase A), both polymer conjugates injected intraperitoneally or intravenously displayed a potent antitumor activity in nude mice bearing human melanoma. At the same time, their cytotoxic activity tested on various tumor cell lines was very low.
