The observation of acoustic emission in combination with the deformation measurement of rock samples during their cyclical loading allows to evaluate in detail the rock failure process, whisch is caused by this specific loading scheme. The results of measurements demonstrate not only typical deformation and acoustic behavior of samples but also the very recognisable manifestation of the Kaiser effect, too. The significance of this phenomena for applied geomechanics is discussed in the paper.
