Methylium ions -CH3+ are chemisorbed at zeolitic basic sites - oxygen atoms. Oxygen O1 were found in NaY zeolite as favourable sites for location of bonded methyl groups. In NaY zeolite were estimated types O4 and O1 as most probable sites of location. Bonded methyl groups create bridging type of surface methoxy compounds and exhibit high rotational mobility in free zeolitic supercages.
